Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is one of the world’s largest wetland conservation organisations working globally to safeguard wetlands for wildlife and people. This year’s competition takes place over 12 months with four seasonal heats. During each season, we’ll be looking for the best photos that represent that season. Now in its fourth year, our wildlife art competition attracts many hundreds of entries in a spectacular array of different styles and media, from the UK and around the world – last year, we received artworks from as far away as India, China, Brazil and Australia. Please think about what your heart means to you. There is only one rule; you must include the colour red in the photograph! The competition closes on the 6th January 2012 and the winners will have their image displayed in the windows of our shops across the UK. A selection of winning and highly commended photos will be featured in the Independent on Sunday at the end of January 2012. First of all, the theme for this contest is open. 40 outstanding photographs will be chosen for the March 2012 Gallery Photographica Exhibition in San Francisco. From these, three winners will be selected to receive $6,000 (USD). The Exhibition is on the gallery tour offered to attendees at the National Conference of the Society for Photographic Education.
