PSD Tutorial: How To Design An Abstract Flower Fleuron Text Effect
For this Adobe Photoshop CS5 tutorial, you’ll need to download a brush and a .JPG fleuron. With the Photoshop brushes and flower pattern, we'll be creating a unique flower fleuron text effect. In the first example, we'll be implementing the pattern and adding gradient colours, but in the second example we'll be creating only an embossed effect, but again with the fleuron brush - both examples are extremely flexible, so don't forget to show us what you've created so that we can compare. You'll be surprised what amazing effects that you can create with such simple resources.

Photoshop Tutorial Step 1: Setting Up The Canvas & Flower Fleuron Text
1.1. Fill (G) your canvas with #333333 Dark Grey.
1.2. Add Layer » Layer Style » Inner Shadow, with 100% Opacity, 0px Distance, 5% Choke and 250px Size.
1.3. With the Horizontal Type Tool (T), your type your text. Then go to Layer » Layer Style and add the following...
1.4. A Gradient Overlay ranging from a #FF0000 Red to a #FF9900 Yellow. Reverse the Gradient if necessary.
1.5. A Drop Shadow with with 80% Opacity, 0px Distance, 100% Choke and 3-5px Size. Size is variable depending on font size.
1.6. A Bevel & Emboss with a Smooth Inner Bevel, 100% Depth, 15px Size, 16px Soften, and both Opacities at 25%.
1.7. Now select your elegant flower fleuron brush, at an appropiate size, and variate them over your text. Flatten this layer.
1.8. Add Filter » Noise » Add Noise at approximately 2px (variation is optional). Do the same with the background.
1.2. Add Layer » Layer Style » Inner Shadow, with 100% Opacity, 0px Distance, 5% Choke and 250px Size.
1.3. With the Horizontal Type Tool (T), your type your text. Then go to Layer » Layer Style and add the following...

1.8. Add Filter » Noise » Add Noise at approximately 2px (variation is optional). Do the same with the background.
Photoshop Tutorial Step 2: Adding A Floral Pattern/Texture
2.1. Add another Drop Shadow with 75% Opacity, 0px Distance, 0% Choke and 20px Size. Size is variable depending on font size.
2.2. Now, open up your floral pattern. Erase the white to make it transparent, scale, rotate, make it however you want.
2.3. Put it over your text, change the Blending Mode to Linear Burn, and Create A Clipping Mask (Alt + Ctrl + G) for it.
2.4. Paste in the Flower Texture and change the Blending Mode to Soft Light.
2.5. With Image » Hue/Saturation, minimize the Saturation and then Duplicate the Flower Texture.
2.2. Now, open up your floral pattern. Erase the white to make it transparent, scale, rotate, make it however you want.
2.3. Put it over your text, change the Blending Mode to Linear Burn, and Create A Clipping Mask (Alt + Ctrl + G) for it.
2.4. Paste in the Flower Texture and change the Blending Mode to Soft Light.
2.5. With Image » Hue/Saturation, minimize the Saturation and then Duplicate the Flower Texture.
Photoshop Tutorial Step 3: Designing An Embossed Flower Fleuron Text Effect
3.1. Redo Step 1, but add the Drop Shadow with 75% Opacity, 0px Distance, 0% Choke and 10px Size.
3.2. Add Bevel & Emboss with a Smooth Inner Bevel, 1000% Depth, 0px Size, 0px Soften, White Opacity at 50%, and Black at 100%.
3.3. In this example, do not Duplicate the Floral Texture. And this concludes the end of one of our most visited Adobe Photoshop CS5 tutorials.
3.2. Add Bevel & Emboss with a Smooth Inner Bevel, 1000% Depth, 0px Size, 0px Soften, White Opacity at 50%, and Black at 100%.
